Design Features

The Meridian Project development includes many innovative design features, which are the result of intensive collaboration between BBA Architects, the franchise dealer developments teams and the Renrod Groups directors and senior managers.

In creating the Meridian Project, the BBA Architects team have developed a scheme which has provided a new gateway approach to the Wiltshire county town of Trowbridge and the extended White Horse Business Park.

The overall development has been designed to provide for the many uses of the site such as vehicle sales, servicing and repairs, parts and accessories, customer waiting, customer parking, valeting facilities, loading and delivery areas, accounts and administration, training, thus providing a “latest in technology” quartet of dealerships and flexibility for the future.

The dealership buildings have been positioned to give great presence from all directions on the main road and include the current and future dealership standards required by Vauxhall, Toyota, Renault and Nissan.

The internal layout of the buildings have been developed in great detail to provide each dealership with its exact requirements in terms of ambiance, practicality, facilities and furnishings. The “back to back” semi detached design maximises the dealership areas whilst minimising the overall cost by creating areas and facilities which can be shared between each building where appropriate.

The showroom layouts provides the sales teams with aspects over the new and used cars display areas up to and through the large expanse of glazing. The impressive amount of glazing portrays each dealership as a large shop window to the main transport routes around the site. The internal lighting schemes continue the “shop window” appearance throughout the night.

The “curved roof, low eaves” design was developed to make the buildings seem smaller and more ground hugging to comply with local planning requirements and to enable planning permission to be granted.

The roof overhang provides solar shading to the development which mainly faces south. Brise soleil canopies have also been included in the scheme to give a more comfortable internal working environment.
