Renault Introduces New 'Cover To Go' -
Offering Free Seven-Day Insurance that Allows You to Buy and Go!
If you've found your perfect dream car the last thing you want is the
nightmare of waiting to drive it while you arrange insurance. A remarkable
number of people impulse purchase a new or used car if the one they want
is in stock, so with Renault, you can now drive away on the same day fully
insured with the introduction of new 'Cover To Go' which offers customers
a free of charge, comprehensive seven-day insurance policy.
Once the new or used Renault has been purchased, all customers need to
do to obtain their seven-day 'Cover To Go' is to call Renault Insurance
with their car registration number for a no obligation quote for a one-year
policy. The dealer will provide the customer with a unique dealer code
which must be quoted and the telephone call can be made at the dealership
or at home if preferred.
Whether the customer goes on to buy the one-year Renault Insurance policy
or not, they will still receive the seven-day cover enabling them to drive
away with their car immediately, with the freedom to compare prices.
Once the customer has been approved, Renault Insurance will then email
a 'Certificate of Motor Insurance' to the dealership which the customer
can use to tax the vehicle after which it can be driven away that day.
Selisik Ergin, Director, Services & Quality, Renault UK, said; "With
such an innovative range of cars, it is only right that Renault offers
its customers equally inventive after-sales programmes which provide the
highest standard of customer service.
"In this case we're offering our customers a win-win opportunity,
as with 'Cover To Go' even if they decide not to purchase a one-year policy
from Renault Insurance, our customers still receive seven-days insurance
cover completely free of charge enabling them to drive their new or used
Renault away that day.".

New Renault Megane Dci Proves that Hybrids
are Much More Costly and No Greener than a Class-Leading Renault Diesel
Engine
Moves by Honda and the RAC Foundation this week to try and convince the
British public that you can "save money with Honda hybrids"
and that "British drivers don't understand greener cars" backfired
somewhat with the revelation that Renault's new Megane range includes
new dCi diesel engines which match all the low emission and fuel consumption
claims made for hybrid cars whilst costing between £3,550 and £5,050
less.
"British drivers don't understand greener cars" said Honda at
the launch of its new Civic Hybrid - "Yes they do" says Renault
"which is why they buy thousands of Mégane dCi diesels every
year giving them the same environmental CO2, Vehicle Excise Duty (VED)
and fuel consumption benefits as a hybrid". Yet with prices for a
Mégane five-door Hatch dCi 86 starting at only £12,750, that's
an astonishing £3,550 less than the new Honda Civic Hybrid and £5,015
less than the cheapest Toyota Prius.
The facts
The hybrid cars offered by Honda and Toyota work by offering two power
units - one petrol and one electric. Petrol engines are less efficient
than diesel engines which are not popular in their home country of Japan
so by mating a small electric motor to a small petrol engine they can
improve the environmental performance of their car.
In Europe however, many years of diesel engine development has seen turbo
chargers and common rail injection improve the efficiency of diesel engines
leaps and bounds to the point where a petrol/electric hybrid offers no
advantage but the cost and complexity of having two power units adds greatly
to the price and servicing costs.
Same VED tax band
The Government has announced new VED bands to reduce the tax for low emission
cars with a £65 reduction for Band A cars emitting less than 100g/km
of CO2 and a £35 reduction for Band B for cars emitting between
101 and 120g/km.
Widely assumed to be a band for only hybrids and supermini diesels, both
the Mégane dCi 86 and dCi 106 fit in this category with CO2 emissions
of 120g km compared to 109 g/km for the Honda and 104 g/km for the Toyota.
Mind you, the Mégane is an exception as you will not find any other
cars of this size like the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra or VW Golf in this
VED band. Mégane is the only car in this class with emissions as
low as 120g/km.
Same fuel economy
So what about the reason for the hybrid's existence - lower fuel consumption
due to its electric power? Well actually it's only making up for is the
less efficient petrol engine so the official combined fuel economy of
the Mégane dCi 86 is 62.8 mpg and the dCi 106 is 60.1mpg compared
to 61.4mpg for the Civic and 65.7mpg for the Prius.
Same Performance
So although we are talking about being "green" here, does the
Mégane's performance suffer by having "only one engine"
- not at all. The Mégane dCi 86 and 106 dCi have a top speed of
108mph and 115mph respectively and 0-62mph times of 12.7 seconds and 11.1
seconds compared to the Civics' top speed of 115mph and 0-62mph time of
12.1seconds and a top speed of 106 mph and 0-62mph time of 10.9 seconds
for the Prius.
Much lower price
So the Mégane has the same VED tax band, the same fuel economy
and the same performance as a hybrid so the only difference comes with
the purchase price. Two power plants don't come free and it shows in the
price. If Honda and the RAC Foundation were wondering why people don't
want to buy a hybrid here's the answer. A much cheaper alternative already
exists and sells very well to the enlightened British public. A Mégane
Hatch dCi 86 Authentique with air conditioning costs £12,750. A
Honda Civic Hybrid costs £16,300 and the cheapest Toyota Prius costs
£17,760.
If you don't want to be ruled totally by economising then go on and spoil
yourself by moving up to the faster but still super economical dCi 106
six speed Mégane with the more luxurious Expression trim level
for £14,250 - you'll still be saving thousands.
Clio Campus, new Clio or Modus in VED band B
And you don't want to drive something as big as a Mégane but still
squeeze into the VED band B then Renault offer two Clio Campus, six New
Clios, and 11 Modus mini-MPV's that all use the Renault dCi 68 and 86
engines to great effect emitting less than 120g/km.
Conclusion - Hybrids don't add up against a Renault diesel
Why pay up to £5,000 more for a car that is the same size with the
same end results? Hybrids are an interesting novelty but don't achieve
anything that a dCi-engined Renault can't achieve. So the next time a
hybrid owner boasts about the Greenness of their hybrid you can be sure
that the conscience of a Mégane dCi owner will be clear as they
lounge on the beach in Barbados with the money they saved.

A Century of Grand Prix Racing as Renault Stars att Goodwood
One hundred years of Grand Prix history will be celebrated at this year's
Goodwood Festival of Speed held on 7-9th July when Renault takes centre
stage, assisted by Malaysian Grand Prix winner Giancarlo Fisichella.
Last year's World Championship-winning Renault R25 will run from a display
in front of Goodwood House together with the closest-surviving relative
of the car that won the first-ever Grand Prix.
That first Grand Prix - the French Grand Prix which was held over two
days on a 60-mile road course near Le Mans in June 1906 - was won by Renault's
Hungarian driver Ferenc Szisz aboard his 13-litre 90CV AX.
The car disappeared soon after the race and has never been found but it's
nearest successor is the Vanderbilt Cup Renault from 1907, virtually identical
in shape and size to the victor of the first Grand Prix - and two examples
of the car will be at Goodwood in July.
Renault's R25 Formula One car will be driven on Festival Sunday by Fisichella
and on Friday and Saturday by the team's third driver Heikki Kovalainen.
An impressive automotive sculpture by Gerry Judah will be constructed
on the carriage turning circle in front of Goodwood House, depicting Renault's
victory in the first-ever Grand Prix in 1906 and other milestones in the
company's motorsport history. On this central stage will stand two R25's,
the car which propelled Fernando Alonso and Renault to World Championship
glory in 2005. Juxtaposed with this cutting-edge technology will be the
beauty and majesty of the two 1907 Renaults, so close to the car that
carried Ferenc Szisz to victory on the roads around Le Mans a century
ago.
The Vanderbilt Cup cars were built to race in a series sponsored by American
businessman William Kissem Vanderbilt Jr. One of the pair, 'Agatha', has
its own race-winning pedigree and the second is a perfectly restored model
owned by the Indianapolis museum.
Also taking to the hillclimb circuit will be a Mégane Trophy supercar,
in the experienced hands of Renault Formula One star René Arnoux.
Meanwhile, Renault's heritage as an engine supplier will be celebrated
by Ayrton Senna's 1985 Renault-powered Lotus 97T from Classic Team Lotus.
Among the cars on static display in the Renault staging area will be New
Clio Renaultsport 197, New Mégane Renaultsport 225 Renault F1 Team
Special Edition, Mégane Trophy supercar and Renault F1 Team's R26.
These will be joined by several other models highlighting Renault's impressive
motorsport pedigree.
Philippe Talou-Derible, Managing Director of Renault UK said: "We
are obviously extremely proud to be the main sponsor of what is quite
possibly the world's finest motoring event. This is a year that means
so much to Renault. Not only is Renault the reigning Formula One champion,
but 2006 also marks the centenary of our first Grand Prix victory."

Renault Launches New Clio Bio-Fuel Together
with Emissions Commitment for Europe
" New Clio Hi-Flex bio-fuel launched
" Renault sold 25% of all vehicles emitting less than 120g/km CO2
in Europe in 2005
" Target to sell 1 million cars annually emitting less than 140g/km
CO2 by 2008
Following its recent international debut at the 2006 Paris International
Agricultural Show, Renault has launched a new bio-fuel car, the Hi-Flex
Clio available with either a 1.0 or 1.6-litre 16v engine. Based on the
Clio II, the new range has been developed for the Brazilian market and
features Renault-developed 'Flex Fuel' technology, with a highly versatile
engine that can run on petrol and ethanol in any proportion (0-100% of
either).
Available in three and five-door hatchback or Clio Sedan form, the new
Flex Fuel models replace all of the previous petrol versions and cost
an average of just 1% more, with prices starting at 26,570 R$ (Brazilian
Real), or £7,165 sterling equivalent.
In Europe, biofuel is one of the most promising solutions for bringing
down CO2 emission levels. Under Renault Commitment 2009, Renault has made
several commitments to environment issues, including engine adaptation
to biofuels. By 2009, 50% of petrol-engined Renaults offered for sale
in Europe will be able to run on fuels containing up to 85% of ethanol
and all Renault diesel cars will run on fuel containing up to 30% of diester.
Renault leads in Europe for low emissions cars
The Renault range is already one of the best in the world for fuel consumption
and CO2 emissions. For example, in 2005, 25% of all vehicles sold in Europe
that emitted less than 120g/km CO2 were Renaults, compared to the company's
market share of 9.7%, providing greater environmental benefit in total
than a small number of expensive hybrids. This lead is planned to continue
with the aim of selling a million cars a year with CO2 emissions under
140 grams per kilometre by 2008, with a third of these emitting less than
120 grams.

New Clio Renaultsport - The hot hatch with
passion and driving pleasure
The challenge faced by Renault Sport Technologies' engineers when first
penning New Clio Renaultsport 197 was to respect the original personality
of Clio III while at the same time highlighting the newcomer's own dynamic
qualities. The result is an outstanding car which puts the accent firmly
on performance, passion and driving pleasure and hits the UK market in
early Summer.
New Clio Renaultsport stands out as a worthy successor to Clio Renaultsport
182 2.0 16V and features a groundbreaking first in its segment in the
form of a rear air diffuser which uses technology derived directly from
Formula 1. In association with the extractor vents in the front wings,
it ensures excellent aerodynamic performance.
Sportier than ever, New Clio Renaultsport is powered by an evolution of
the normally-aspirated 2.0 16V engine, the power of which has been increased
to 197hp. This is equivalent to near 100hp/litre, making it the highest
specific power output of its category. This has been achieved partly thanks
to an increase in its volumetric efficiency which has not only improved
engine power but has also taken torque to a best-in-class 215Nm at 5,550rpm.
Acceleration from standstill to 62 mph requires a mere 6.9 seconds, while
the kilometre standing start is covered in just 27.5 seconds. Top speed
is 134 mph.
With a combined cycle fuel consumption of 31.7 mpg (209g of CO2/km), New
Clio Renaultsport's fuel consumption is amongst the lowest of the hot
hatch segment for cars of comparable power output.
Coupled with the new six-speed gearbox, this powerful, responsive engine
offers first-class sports performance and driving pleasure.
The double-axis strut system guarantees rigorously precise handling.
New Clio Renaultsport is built at Renault's Dieppe plant, which specialises
in the production of the brand's sports models.
Chapter 1 - Punchy looks
New Clio Renaultsport 197 reveals its sports heritage both inside and
out. The exterior design features specific body parts which accentuate
Clio III's racy, muscular styling.
Designed for performance
Clio III's distinctive, original lines have been further enhanced by the
use of more athletic curves, while New Clio Renaultsport's specific side
design exudes extra power and energy. The wider front and rear wings,
lowered stance, profiled side skirts and semi-rigid under-bumper splitter
combine with the extractor vents and diffuser to assert the new car's
advanced aerodynamic engineering and sports heritage.
New Clio Renaultsport comes with generously-dimensioned tyres (215/45)
and 17-inch light alloy wheels which barely conceal the Brembo brake callipers
and big discs that ensure powerful and durable stopping performance.
Developed jointly by Renault Sport Technologies and Renault's Powertrain
Engineering Department, the powerful, normally-aspirated 2.0 16V calls
on wide, bumper-mounted air intakes for additional engine cooling.
The front and rear bumpers, side protective mouldings and exterior mirrors
are all body-coloured, while the door handles are in satin-finish chrome.
New Clio Renaultsport 197 will be available in five exclusive colours:
two non-metallic colours (Toro Red and Dynamo Blue), plus three metallic
colours (Monako Blue, Deep Black and Makaha Grey).
Styling modifications
New Clio Renaultsport features specific bodywork, including larger front
wings (+42mm) designed to house the wider track and generously-dimensioned
tyres, while the additional 28mm left and right at the rear have prompted
a specific side design.
The standard Clio III floor - which incorporates a well for the spare
wheel - has been replaced by a flat panel designed to free up space for
the exhaust silencer and twin-rear tailpipes. Meanwhile, the spare wheel
has been replaced by two tyre repair aerosols.
Sporty interior
New Clio Renaultsport's interior trim echoes the car's exterior styling.
The "drive it" spirit is immediately apparent in details such
as the aluminium pedals, footrest* and perforated-leather steering wheel
with red centre-point stitching. For added comfort and efficiency, the
design of the steering wheel itself assists perfect grip for the hands.
Designed and positioned for optimal clarity, the instruments feature white
data on a black background. The rev counter incorporates a gear-change
indicator light, while the size of the figures increases as the needle
gets closer to the red zone at 7,500rpm.
The overriding dark charcoal colour scheme is offset by the chrome-zinc
centre console and dashboard inserts which echo technology and sports
performance.
Specially designed Renaultsport seats ensure outstanding comfort and effective
lateral support which enable the driver to feel totally at one with his
or her machine, while the metallic grey seatbelts are in perfect harmony
with the new dark charcoal and metallic black "Entresol" upholstery.
As with all Renault Sport Technologies-developed models, the exclusive
"Renaultsport" logo appears on the instrument backgrounds, on
the door sill and on the front seats. "Renaultsport" badging
is also visible on the outside; on the hatch and on the satin-finish chrome
side moulding inserts.
* Left-hand drive vehicles only.
Recaro bucket seats
From the summer of 2006, New Clio Renaultsport 197 will be available with
optional bucket seats designed and developed in association with world-renowned
Recaro. Perfectly in keeping with the vehicle's sporty interior ambience,
they are trimmed with "Entresol" upholstery in harmony with
the rear bench seat. In addition to housing lateral airbags, these seats
feature a rigid, polyamide and fibreglass-injected shell for the sort
of all-enveloping experience normally associated with competition driving.
The seatbelt slots and built-in headrest add the final, distinctive sports
touch.
Chapter 2 - Formula 1-derived aerodynamics
The aerodynamics of New Clio Renaultsport 197 have benefited from extensive
development work. In addition to front wing extractor vents, the new car
features a groundbreaking first for this type of vehicle in the form of
a rear air diffuser.
Air diffuser: racing technology
Both visually and technologically, New Clio Renaultsport's most striking
technological innovation lies in the design of the rear bumper which incorporates
an air diffuser. Derived from Formula 1, this feature has only ever previously
been seen on range-topping, high-priced sports cars.
The diffuser's purpose is to prevent rear-end lift and maintain stability
at high speed by channelling air flow in such a way to increase the suction
effect. The radius of the diffuser's curve is engineered to create a zone
of low pressure beneath the car.
The downforce generated by the diffuser means there is no need for a rear
spoiler to counter the phenomenon of lift. For optimal stability, the
system reduces lift by a factor of three and produces the equivalent of
40kg of rear downforce at very high speeds without (on track) detracting
from the car's carefully honed aerodynamics designed to achieve a low
CdA.
To maximise the diffuser's effectiveness, the flush-fitted dual exhausts
are housed within the outer channels. Positioned in this way, they do
not interfere with the efficiency of the aerodynamics.
Extractor vents for optimised performance
The front wing extractor vents also have an aerodynamic function by reducing
turbulence to optimise the car's drag coefficient. The extractor vents
facilitate both the flow and hot air from under the bonnet. At the same
time, the vents direct air flow along the sides of the car to further
enhance performance.
New Clio Renaultsport 197 also comes with a specific bumper and grille,
as well as a semi-rigid aerodynamic splitter which restricts the amount
of air that passes underneath the car.
Diffusers in Formula 1
The diffuser
is one of the most significant features of modern Formula 1 aerodynamics
technology and exploits the air that passes underneath the car to draw
the chassis to the ground. The diffuser is one of the most significant
features of modern Formula 1 aerodynamics technology and exploits the
speed of the air that passes underneath the car to draw the chassis to
the ground. Airflow passing underneath the car at the front is channeled
by a flat bottom to the diffuser where the air is accelerated before being
forced out at the rear, thereby creating a zone of low pressure which
"sucks" the car to the ground. Like a conventional wing, the
diffuser generates significant vertical downforce but without impeding
the car's forward movement.
Renault Sport Technologies' engineers have exploited the same principle
to ensure that New Clio Renaultsport 197 stays "glued" to the
road.
Chapter 3 - A high-performance chassis
New Clio
Renaultsport's exacting, balanced sports handling combines driving pleasure
at speed with advanced safety. The dimensions of its chassis have been
modified compared with those of Clio III, including a longer wheelbase
and wider front and rear tracks. New Renault Clio Sport also comes with
a double-axis strut system and aluminium components for greater driving
precision.
For enhanced stability, the wheelbase of New Clio Renaultsport 197 has
been extended by 10mm compared with Clio III to 2,585mm. At the same time,
grip and cornering performance have been optimised thanks to the new car's
wider front and rear track which have been extended by 48 and 50mm respectively
in comparison with Clio III.
Innovative front suspension, strengthened rear suspension
New Clio Renaultsport comes with a double-axis strut system, a technology
which guarantees precision and optimal traction in all situations. Driving
pleasure is further enhanced by the car's frontal grip and an absence
of torque-steer, whether in the middle of a tight turn or when travelling
in a straight line.
New Clio Renaultsport benefits from a new type of double-axis strut system
which comprises aluminium components for reduced weight compared to the
standard Clio III which was MacPherson strut architecture.
Derived from Clio III, the programmed deflection, torsion beam rear suspension
has been strengthened to match the potential of the double-axis strut
system and to ensure precise, immediate response when turning into corners.
The stiffness of the sports version's rear suspension has been uprated
by 25% thanks to a 30mm anti-roll bar. The new concept, single-piece stub
axles feature reinforced bearings and have been lengthened in order to
widen the rear track. Their diameter has also been increased by 5mm to
30mm (instead of 25mm in the case of Clio III).
Glued to the road
The suspension of New Clio Renaultsport 197 ensures a first-class compromise
between efficiency and filtering performance. Front and rear shock absorbers
feature specific valving developed to optimise body control.
Meanwhile, the stiffness of the front and rear springs and the use of
polyurethane bump stops favour positive car control on very rough roads.
The subframe is the same as that used for Mégane Renaultsport 225
and includes transverse strengthening for improved front-end rigidity.
The front subframe bushes and rear suspension mountings are also stiffer,
as are the upper front shock absorber mountings.
All these features combine to favour feedback to the driver as well as
a heightened sense of precision at the wheel. The calibration parameters
of the electric power steering are specific to New Clio Renaultsport,
while the model's Continental Sport Contact 3 tyres (215/45 R17) also
contribute to the suspension's excellent directional stability.
Uprated braking
Derived from that of Mégane Renaultsport 225, New Clio Renaultsport
197's braking system ensures effective, durable stopping power, plus progressive,
easy-to-dose pedal travel. The system comprises 312mm-diameter cross-drilled
front discs with Brembo four-pot callipers and 300mm diameter discs at
the rear.
Double-axis strut system
The double-axis strut system ensures a significant reduction in the effects
of transverse, engine torque-induced forces as the car accelerates under
cornering. The steering axis of New Clio Renaultsport's front suspension
is totally independent of the damping system, in contrast to a MacPherson-type
set-up in which the steering axis is linked to the lower arm.
The rotation of the wheel around its axis is ensured by a pivoting link
between the hub-carrier (1) and the aluminium pivot carrier (2). The stub
axle offset (the distance between the centre of the wheel and the intersection
between its rotational and steering axes) has consequently been reduced
to 34mm compared with 48mm in the case of New Clio's MacPherson-type suspension.
The pivot carrier is located on the lower aluminium rectangular lower
arm (3). It is prevented from rotating by a rod (4) which links the two
components.
Chapter 4 - A specific power output of near 100hp/litre
The quest for performance which was a hallmark of New Clio Renaultsport
197's development means the normally-aspirated, Renault Sport Technologies-designed
2.0 16V engine is able to realise its full potential. Coupled with a six-speed
gearbox, this responsive (215Nm at 5,550rpm) and powerful (197hp at 7,250rpm)
powerplant provides top-class sports performance and driving pleasure.
A sporty, responsive normally-aspirated engine
New Clio Renaultsport is powered by the F4R RS normally-aspirated 2.0
16V engine which delivers 197hp at 7,250rpm and maximum torque of 215Nm
at 5,550rpm. Based on the engine which forged the reputation of Clio Renaultsport
182 2.0 16V, it boasts a specific power output of near 100hp per litre
which ensures exceptional performance for New Clio Renaultsport in the
hot hatch segment. The normally-aspirated engine combines performance,
dynamism, flexibility, immediate response and excellent re-acceleration
from all engine speeds. It is also easier to adapt for competition use
in derivatives such as the Clio Group N and Clio Cup one-make race versions.
At low revs and at engine speeds below 5,000rpm, New Clio Renaultsport
ensures a level of response and driving pleasure adapted to day-to-day
motoring. At higher revs (more than 5,000rpm), the performance and "bark"
of New Clio Renaultsport's engine are unleashed to reveal the car's true
sports heritage.
The uprated power and torque figures stem from a number of modifications
and optimisations to the powertrain:
- as in Formula 1, the inlet acoustics have evolved to take volumetric
efficiency to more than 100% thanks to the optimisation of the sections
and lengths of the intake tracts.
- to permit the intake of additional air and to optimise gas flow, extensive
work has also gone into the valve seat aerodynamics. The calibration of
the camshaft has also been modified with a view to producing a longer
and bigger aperture of the valves (11.5mm of valve lift instead of an
average 9mm).
- the design of the combustion chamber and the piston has resulted in
a high compression ratio of 11.5:1 for enhanced combustion and performance,
plus lower emissions.
- continuously variable valve timing improves performance at all engine
speeds by varying the camshaft angle to optimise the opening and closing
of the valves.
Driving pleasure and acoustic comfort
Renault Sport Technologies' engineers have sought to achieve a signature
engine sound in keeping with New Clio Renaultsport 197's sports pedigree.
From a discreet pitch at low revs, the engine begins to give a glimpse
of its promise at mid engine speeds before producing a hallmark bark when
pushed to the limit.
Meanwhile, the reinforced subframe and specific floor minimise boom thanks
to special surface soundproofing treatment that reduces the radiation
of noise from the exhaust. The 3Y-type exhaust manifold also offers an
excellent compromise between acoustic performance, power and low emissions.
To prevent boom at certain engine speeds, the crankshaft has evolved too.
Made from steel, it features eight counterweights which improve its rigidity
and balance in a bid to reduce parasitic vibrations and friction in the
camshafts.
A six-speed gearbox engineered for performance
New Clio Renaultsport comes with an evolution of the TL4 six-speed gearbox,
the first Alliance-developed manual transmission which is capable of handling
up to 240Nm (24.5mkg). This precision, close-ratio gearbox favours acceleration
from all intermediate engine speeds.
Chapter 5 - Driving pleasure in complete safety
Just like Clio III, which obtained a five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating,
the focus has also very much been on excellence in terms of safety in
the case of New Clio Renaultsport 197. The new car has profited from Renault's
acclaimed expertise in the domain to emerge as a passive safety benchmark
in the hot hatch segment. New Clio Renaultsport features Renault's third-generation
System for Restraint and Protection which guaranties optimal protection
for all occupants wherever they are sitting in the car.
Active safety: a development priority
Like design and sports performance, active safety played a central role
in the development of New Clio Renaultsport. In addition to featuring
the latest-evolution driver aids, it is equipped as standard with Generation
8 Bosch ABS complete with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). Recognising
that the New Clio Renaultsport will be driven enthusiastically - possibly
on circuit track days - Brake Assist has been removed.
New Clio Renaultsport also comes with ESP which has been reprogrammed
to higher limits and can be disconnected. Its operation is adapted to
the sort of dynamic driving style associated with this type of car, while
at the same time contributing to a high degree of active safety. The ESP
system comes complete with ASR traction control to assist starting and
accelerating when grip is at a premium.
Passive safety: uncompromising protection for all passengers
New Clio Renaultsport 197 features the third-generation Renault System
for Restraint and Protection which guarantees optimal protection for all
occupants wherever they are sitting. The extremely rigid cabin forms an
indeformable structure which acts as a survival cell for passengers and
combats against the intrusion of front-end components. These, in turn,
are designed to stack up under impact.
Both front seatbelts of New Clio Renaultsport are equipped with pyrotechnic
pretensioners for optimal body restraint under impact, plus built-in load
limiters calibrated at 400daN for enhanced thorax protection. To protect
the pelvic region and to combat submarining, the front seat cushions come
with built-in anti-submarining airbags. According to country, New Clio
Renaultsport is equipped with up to eight airbags as standard: two controlled-deflation
adaptive front airbags, four lateral airbags and two anti-submarining
airbags (fitted in the base of the front seats).
In the event of side impact, and in addition to the lateral airbags (thorax
airbags built into the front seats, plus curtain airbags to protect the
heads of front and rear passengers), New Clio Renaultsport comes with
spacers and padding in the door panels. It also features an aluminium
bar (a first inaugurated on Clio III) that adapts the load exerted upon
impact to ensure that occupants are afforded the most effective protection
possible.
In the event of rear impact, New Clio Renaultsport is equipped with rear
impact energy-absorbing front seats and headrests. This new technology
marks a significant breakthrough when it comes to protecting the neck
against the effects of whiplash. When adjusting its height, it's the headrest
itself which slides inside the seat back and not the rods. Since the latter
no longer form a rigid element inside the seatback, the occupant's back
can, under impact, push further back into the seat until his or her head
comes into contact with the headrest. The rear bench seat comes with three
integrated headrests, while the seat itself and its anchorage points are
reinforced with a view to limiting reclining of the seat back under impact.
Chapter 6 - A hot hatch success story
The launch of the first Clio Renaultsport 172 2.0 16V in 1999 signalled
Renault's return to the hot hatch market after the earlier successes of
Clio Williams and Renaultsport Spider, both of which were produced in
Dieppe.
The objective of Clio Renaultsport 197 was twofold: to serve as a flagship
for the Clio range and to appeal to a male clientele. In the course of
the past six years, it has overwhelmingly met both these targets.
Based on Clio III, New Clio Renaultsport will seek to continue the Renaultsport
brand's success in the Clio range, while at the same time broadening the
Renault line's worldwide appeal.
Renault has invested €29 million in the development of New Clio Renaultsport
which uses the same Alliance B platform as Clio III.
A single production site
The Renaultsport factory in Dieppe is the only site where Renaultsport
models are produced. This plant, which has an annual production capacity
of 30,000 cars, already assembles Mégane Renaultsport 225 and will
soon begin production of New Clio Renaultsport 197.
In keeping with the system employed for previous Clio Renaultsport models,
the three-door bodies will be built at Flins and then transported to the
Renault Sport factory in Dieppe. Ten thousand Clio bodies from Flins will
be sent to Dieppe annually.
An uncontested success
Since the car's launch in 1999, 37,545 Clio Renaultsport models have been
sold in Western Europe.
The model has proved particularly popular in three countries, namely the
United Kingdom, France and Switzerland which accounted for 72% of Clio
Renaultsport sales between 1999 and the end of November 2005. With 13,011
cars registered, the United Kingdom alone accounts for at least 35% of
total sales.
New Clio Renaultsport is expected to broaden the Clio range's target market,
succeed in a higher number of countries in Western Europe and elsewhere,
and also showcase Renault's technological expertise in the domain of sports
models.

Laguna 'Navigates' Its Way to the Top with
Two New Trim Levels
" Renault enhances its Laguna 2006 range with two new trim levels
-Expression Navigation and Dynamique Navigation
" New 'Navigation' includes full colour Carminat Colour Satellite
Navigation system as standard in the price
" Prices starting from £16,650
" Standard equipment on Navigation beats its segment rivals
" On sale now
Renault has introduced a brand new enhancement of its most popular trim
levels - Dynamique and Expression - the Navigation, which for the first
time will offer a comprehensive full colour large screen satellite navigation
system worth £1,100 as standard in the overall price which has risen
by only £550 making it half price.
This latest enhancement of the Laguna 2006 range ensures its position
of providing customers with a fresh, modern vehicle which is both stylish
and practical for every-day motoring, whilst offering top quality and
unrivalled interior equipment. The popular Expression interior trim has
also been updated with dark grey upholstery giving it a contemporary and
luxurious feel.
The inclusion of sat nav as standard is in response to customer demand
for this potentially marriage saving piece of equipment, but particularly
in the fleet sector where arriving at appointments on time is vital, as
the Laguna Navigation includes live traffic information ensuring Laguna
is an even more ideal choice for the fleet market.
As the system is full integrated and partially operated with fingertip
remote controls mounted on the hi-fi stalk behind the steering wheel,
it means that attention is kept firmly on the road, essential for fleets
where duty of care is an increasingly important issue.
The Laguna Expression Navigation and Dynamique Navigation are available
in a choice of four engines, the 2.0 VVT 135, 2.0 VVT 135 Auto, the 1.9
dCi 130 FAP and the dCi 150. It is available in Hatch or Sport Tourer
versions.
Prices start from £16,650 rising to £18,750 in the Expression
Navigation range, whilst the Dynamique Navigation's prices start from
£17,750 rising to £19,850 for the Hatch version. This offers
customers a saving of £550.
The 2006 Laguna range offers customers upmarket quality and unrivalled
standard equipment compared to its rivals.
For example, Laguna Dynamique Navigation sets a benchmark in the segment
with more standard features than the equivalent Ford Mondeo 2.0 Zetec
NAV, Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 SRI Nav, Toyota Avensis 1.8 T3-S and Peugeot
407 SE 2.0.
Technology as standard
Laguna 2006's Navigation models offer a top-of-the-range comprehensive
satellite navigation system as standard that once again blows the competition
out of the water with rivals who offer only monochrome, turn-by-turn or
arrow guidance sat nav systems.
Following on from the introduction of Renault's Bluetooth satellite navigation
systems last year first seen in the New Laguna 2006 range, the Navigation
trim provides customers with a safety-tested, optimally positioned, dash-mounted
full colour screen (maps and arrows) Carminat Colour Satellite Navigation
System with fingertip remote controls mounted on the hi-fi stalk behind
the steering wheel.
Satellite navigation has been identified as an essential item particularly
for fleet customers where it takes the hassle out of a journey by eliminating
the added stress of trying to locate a destination and many depend on
the system especially when visiting clients. With Laguna's Navigation
versions, customers are assured of a top quality package which will also
assist healthy future residuals.
The Carminat Colour Navigation system automatically determines the vehicles
position via GPS, includes a colour map with voice synthesiser, has points
of interest locations (petrol stations, hospitals etc) and has unlimited
destination search using:
" road map (on the CD or stored in the system memory)
" Live traffic information TMC - congestion alert (nature and estimated
time for hold-up to clear) and alternative route suggested
" Step-by-step route directions through the display screen and via
voice messages
" Can be partially operated through the hands-free radio control
stalk
Not only this but Renault Laguna was the first-ever car to obtain the
maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP so customers are assured that
they are travelling in comfort and safety.
Laguna Expression Navigation
Expression Navigation includes all of the core features and standard equipment
featured on the Expression trim it is based upon including automatic light
sensor activated headlamps, automatic parking brake and new centre console,
front fog lamps and Leather Steering wheel to name just a few.

" Customer deliveries from April 3rd 2006
Softer styling, innovative cornering lights, the Bluetooth Nav-Com System
and the new 2.0 dCi 175 Euro IV FAP engine are just some of the features
poised to ensure that the New 2006 Renault Espace remains the leader of
the top-of-the-range MPV segment as ordering opens now for first customer
deliveries from April 3rd 2006.
With its seductive and aesthetic appeal, dynamic performance, excellence
in perceived quality and travelling comfort, New Espace 2006 goes further
than it has ever done before with more efficient new diesel engines, better
equipment and even greater safety.
The new particulate filter-equipped 2.0 dCi diesel engine delivers 175hp
and ensures that New Espace 2006 benefits from exceptional performance
for this level of engine size. A new six-speed automatic transmission
will soon be available on the new 3.0 dCi V6 diesel engine which will
boast torque of 400Nm for even more flexibility and driving pleasure.
Thanks to a choice of three petrol and four diesel powerplants, which
can be coupled to five- or six-speed manual or Proactive transmission,
New Espace 2006 places the accent firmly on dynamic performance and driving
pleasure.
New Espace 2006's exterior lines are softer yet its personality is as
distinctive as ever and points clearly to its high-end MPV standing. New
Espace 2006 is also the first vehicle of its class to feature bi-Xenon
cornering lights.
Inside, the perceived quality and the sense of warmth and brightness it
exudes make New Espace 2006 an even more pleasurable experience. New Espace
2006 is also available with the latest Bluetooth Nav-Com System which
combines voice synthesis with a three-dimensional display. The system
comes with a panoramic 7-inch screen built into the new dashboard design,
Bluetooth technology for a hands-free telephone and a CD/MP3-compatible
player.
The new dashboard ensures enhanced display of information, while the new
Bluetooth Nav-Com System has prompted a rethink of the ergonomics of the
driver's seat. Positioned between the two front seats, a single multimedia
control provides access to the navigation, Bluetooth telephone and radio/MP3-compatible
functions.
New automatically-attaching sliding seats 'slide and lock' system are
available in the rear removing the need to latch the seat onto hooks in
the floor rails. The seats can be taken out, moved and positioned with
ease, thereby enhancing interior modularity. New Espace 2006 also has
an all-flat floor.
And for complete ease of mind when travelling as a family, New Espace
2006's active and passive safety features confirm its position as the
benchmark in its segment. When launched three years ago, Espace IV was
the safest car ever tested by Euro NCAP.
New Espace
for New Appeal
The softer front styling of New Espace 2006 includes a new headlamp design
that prolongs the lines of the bonnet. The slimmer bumper and simplified
grille design reassert the vehicle's top-of-the-range status. The bi-Xenon
cornering lights and their ability to pivot as a function of the position
of the steering wheel give New Espace 2006 a unique frontal expression.
From Dynamique, the foglamps come with a new chrome trim that discreetly
echoes the elegance of the new styling. Two new body colours are also
available, namely Tuscan Beige and Mountain Blue.
New wheel trims underpin New Espace 2006's dynamic design, while the design
of the new 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels adds to its refined looks.
The form of the rear lights takes its inspiration from the vehicle's overall
styling cues and contributes significantly to the harmony of the whole.
Although discreet when switched off, the rear lights truly come into their
own once illuminated.
For added elegance, the new trim favours dark charcoal tones for the upper
part of the interior, contributing to an even greater level of perceived
quality and a brighter, warmer feel. The trimming of the dashboard and
centre console is in perfect harmony with the interior colour scheme.
With the exception of the recent Dynamique version, all of the upholsteries
are new.
The panoramic glass roof, which can be either fixed or electric, continues
to stand out as the market benchmark in terms of its dimensions and comfort.
Combined with an electric sliding sunblind, it protects passengers while
at the same time giving the impression of travelling in the open air.
New Espace 2006
for New Standards of Excellence
New Espace 2006 is equipped with rain and light sensors, "See Me
Home" lights, front and rear parking assist, a tyre pressure monitoring
system, Emergency Brake Assist with ABS and ESP with understeer control.
The Renault System for Restraint and Protection comprises eight airbags
and three-point seatbelts complete with load limiters.
New Espace 2006 offers optimum child safety. All the rear seats can be
fitted with ISOFIX attachments and Sleep Safe convertible child head restraints
are available. New Espace 2006's strengthened structure ensures maximum
safety and the vehicle benefits from a five-star Euro NCAP crash test
rating.
New Espace 2006
for New Dynamic Performance
New Espace 2006 benefits from the latest engine and transmission evolutions.
The New 2.0 dCi 175 engine achieves a 0-62mph figure of 10 seconds, a
best-in-class performance with record fuel consumption figures of 38.2
mpg. With less than 200 g/km, CO2 emissions are remarkably low and make
New Espace 2006 a leader in its vehicle category in environmental terms.
The driving pleasure associated with the 3.0 dCi V6 powerplant, which
will be available in Spring, has been further enhanced by the new six-speed,
flick-shift automatic Proactive transmission, as well as by the latter's
shift-down function under heavy braking and the maintenance of the selected
gear when lifting abruptly off the throttle. Meanwhile, the flick-shift
control enables the driver to change gear manually if required. Perfectly
compatible with the engine's 400Nm of torque, this transmission combines
response and low fuel consumption 29.7 mpg in the combined cycle.
New standard equipment on trim levels
New Espace 2006 still comes equipped with an impressive list of core features
such as driver's double seatbelt pretensioners, driver and front passenger
seatbelt reminders and ESP, whilst the list of standard equipment on each
trim level has also increased.
For the Authentique trim, the inside of the vehicle has been given a facelift
with a new stylish carbon grey upholstery replacing the previous carbon/
beige. The Expression trim now includes rear parking sensor, new carbon
upholstery and pre-telephone equipment as standard.
The best-selling Dynamique already came equipped with a comprehensive
list of standard features so the revision sees one change to the exterior
with the addition of a chrome effect bumper strip when metallic paint
is purchased as an option. In terms of engines, the Dynamique range has
grown to include the new 2.0 dCi 175 Euro IV FAP engine.
Heading up the range, the luxurious Privilége and Initiale trims
add even more refinement. The Privilége adds Bi-Xenon double optic
headlamps with auto height adjustment and wash and parking proximity sensor
to its standard features. The Privilége trim also includes the
new 2.0 dCi 175 engine.
Reinforcing it's position as the ultimate in luxury MPVs, the range-topping
Initiale, which is available only on the Grand Espace ensuring extra space
is available, adds the new feature of front parking proximity sensor to
match the rear one, New 'Vogue' full leather upholstery, metallic paint
with chrome effect bumper strip and 3D new Bluetooth Nav-Com system with
six CD/ MP3 dashmounted changer and remote control. The dash has been
revised to integrate the full colour screen for this model. Initiale's
engines also now include the new 2.0 dCi 175 Euro IV FAP.
New options for the New Espace 2006 range include the innovative cornering
Bi-Xenon directional double optic headlamps with auto height adjustment
and wash, which is a first for its class providing up to 90% additional
light whilst cornering as well as the new Bluetooth Nav-Com System.
Prices starting from just £19,700 rising to £35,580
The New Espace 2006 continues to cover a whole range of prices which remain
unchanged from the previous version with the exception of the 3.0 V6 dCi
engine which rises by £180 when it arrives in the Spring.
On sale now
New Espace 2006 is available to order now with prices staring from £19,700
rising to £35,580, and insurance groups will be confirmed shortly.

Renault Altica Concept Car: A sporty estate with the accent
on style
"Altica strikes
a successful balance between flowing and sporty lines. This car is an
original and futuristic vision of the sporty estate car, while its graphic
identity is both bold and innovative."
Patrick le Quément, Renault's Senior Vice President, Corporate
Design.
Renault has taken the wraps off its new concept car, Altica, a sporty
estate that combines flowing lines with a spacious interior. Its dynamic
stance is underpinned by a long bonnet and curved forms, while its modular
interior ensures outstanding load capacity.
Altica stands out as a dynamic vision of the estate, combining the practicality
of the latter, the sports appeal of a coupé and a high standard
of travelling comfort.
Flowing, sporty lines
The panoramic windscreen and rear window underline the car's fluid aerodynamics.
The two-tone paintwork accentuates the side design and also asserts Altica's
graphic identity. The car's overall stance - low-slung lines, long bonnet,
prominent wings - and proportions express true sports car dynamics. Comprised
of a mosaic of transparent panes, the rear quarter lights suggest forward
movement.
Altica's interior mirrors its sporty, dynamic exterior design. The suspended
drive station is held in place by four profiled rods that hint at the
world of Formula 1.
The transparent roof and panoramic windscreen erase the boundary between
the interior and the outside world and also ensure a brightly-lit cabin.
The mosaic design of the rear quarter lights allows sunlight to filter
into the cabin much like it does through stained glass windows and gives
the interior a more welcoming feel. The layout and angling of the panes
ensure good three-quarter rear visibility for the driver which is indispensable
when parking.
The headlamps feature four different modes - daytime running lights (DRL),
sidelights, dipped beam and main beam - and function using rows of diodes.
They also produce a halo effect when the DRL mode is selected. This is
achieved in two ways. First of all, each polycarbonate headlamp module
cover is speckled with thousands of small, micro-engraved nicks. Invisible
to the naked eye, these nicks have no effect on the beams and permit light
to pass unhindered. In the daytime running mode, however, the surface
of the module cover is illuminated from the edge. The light is accordingly
trapped inside the mass and spreads out like a fluid over the entire surface
to produce an original and effective halo effect for the DRL and sidelight
functions.
An estate with the accent on style
Altica's sports pedigree is reinforced by its scissor doors, the form
of which ensures easy access to this low vehicle.
The generous interior volumes of Altica provide a very high standard of
travelling comfort despite the car's sporty characteristics. Each of the
four individual seats boasts outstanding comfort.
Instead of the seats, which are fixed, it is the drive station and pedal
assembly that adjust to match the driver's physique thanks to a motorized
mechanism. The height-adjustable centre armrest deploys automatically
as the driver sits down.
The vertical positioning of the dashboard takes its inspiration from the
world of aeronautics and permits the driver to feel at one with the car.
The centrally-positioned dial features two display modes: "comfort"
and "sport". The "comfort" mode indicates the car's
speed in the centre of the display while the perimeter shows the legal
speed limits which turn red if exceeded. In the "sport" mode,
the speed continues to be displayed in the middle of the dial but the
perimeter becomes a digital rev counter and turbo pressure indicator.
The graphics of the high-resolution screen provide a distinctly human
touch to this high-tech display which itself suggests watchmaker-like
precision and sophistication.
Altica features a number of clever storage spaces, including the shell-like
glove box, concertina-style storage compartment in the armrests and a
tray situated underneath the floor at the rear.
The rear seat backs can be folded into the flat floor which is equipped
with straps that permit heavy or bulky loads to be held secure. This layout
transforms Altica into a two-seater sports coupé with a vast 1,300-litre
boot, while the boot lid provides very easy access and an extremely low
loading sill.
Driving pleasure, power and control
Altica is a dynamic sporty estate that combines driving pleasure with
a sensation of power and control.
With its long bonnet, sports dimensions (length: 4.27m; width: 1.83m)
and very low centre of gravity, Altica offers remarkable performance.
Altica's new 177hp 2.0 dCi particulate filter-equipped diesel engine takes
the car from a standing start to 100kph in just 7.5s. Coupled with a six-speed
gearbox, this powerplant - which boasts maximum torque of 380Nm - provides
excellent pull-away and mid-range acceleration. This hasn't been achieved
to the detriment of fuel consumption, however. The Renault-Nissan Alliance
engine is very inexpensive to run and fuel consumption is equivalent to
140g of CO2 per kilometre. In terms of both performance and driving pleasure,
it stands out as the best diesel engine in its class and a version of
which, without the particle filter, debuts in the Laguna GT dCi 175 this
month.
Altica's low fuel consumption also stems from its exceptional aerodynamics.
Located at the extremity of the roof at the point where the vehicle and
the passing air flow separate, a discreet mechanical system generates
jets of air which are alternately blown and sucked through a 2mm wide
slit. Known as "Synthetic Jet", the system actively controls
the separation of the air flow according to the vehicle's speed. This
innovative technique, which reduces drag and controls the structure of
the air flow, is a registered Renault patent and reduces the car's Cd
at 80mph by 15% for an energy consumption of just 10W.
Valeo
Altica's lights employ
high-performance light emitting diodes (LEDs).
The dipped and main beam functions are housed in a single module which
tops a linear directional light. The LED control unit permanently adapts
the quantity and orientation of the beam as a function of the conditions.
During motorway driving, the LEDs that ensure long range visibility are
automatically activated and controlled to guarantee optimum visibility
at all times without dazzle. The colour of the light emitted by the LEDs
is similar to that of daylight for enhanced optical comfort and visibility.
The daytime running light (DRL) mode, which is activated most of the time
while the car is moving, also use LEDs. Their high efficiency and the
low amount of energy they require significantly reduce the power that
is consumed compared with a conventional light source. The life expectancy
of LEDs is also much longer than that of all contemporary light sources.
As a world first, the sidelight function is ensured by a veil of light
that covers the entire headlamp thanks to Valeo's exclusive MicroOptique
technology.

Safety A Top Priority for Fleets? Look
No Further Than Renault
Renault is delighted to see the results of a recent survey by Lex Vehicle
Leasing which advises that fleet managers list health and safety issues
as their top priority for 2006.
Duty of care is of immense importance to fleets and providing a safe vehicle
for company use is vital.
Keith Hawes, Director, Fleet & Commercial Vehicle Sales, Renault UK,
was particularly interested in Lex's findings. He said; "Lex Vehicle
Leasing's survey confirms what we already knew having discussed these
issues with our customers.
"As we know safety is a key priority for fleet managers, and the
simple solution is to choose a car that can save lives should the worst
happen and the vehicle is involved in an accident. We provide the answer
with our extensive range of cars as the only manufacturer to have eight
cars with the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP".
Renault's Laguna was the first car ever to receive the top five-star rating
from Euro NCAP setting the standard for the industry. Fleet managers have
a breadth of vehicles to choose to ensure their employees and their passengers
are travelling in safety as well as comfort - with five-stars - whether
the top-of-the-range Espace or the mini-MPV Modus, the entire Mégane
family or even Renault's latest vehicle to be awarded five-stars and European
Car of the Year 2006 no less, the all-New Clio.
Renault itself has been honoured for its safety achievements particularly
its five-star Euro NCAP accomplishments, many times, including winning
What Car? magazine's prestigious 'Safety Award' no less than six times
in seven years.
Don't just take Renault's word for it, our customers can prove being in
a Renault can save lives.
Renault customer, Tim Allen, Fleet Manager, Bowmur Haulage Ltd, based
in Cannock, said; "Last year, we had a Mégane Sport Tourer
on demonstration having been impressed by the existing 350 plus Renaults
we already have in our fleet. One of our drivers was involved in a major
accident whilst travelling in the Mégane at 70mph on the M54. The
driver walked away from the vehicle with nothing more serious than a couple
of cracked ribs.
"I am convinced if it wasn't for the five-star Euro NCAP safety achieved
by the Mégane Sport Tourer, our driver may not have been so lucky.
As a result, I ordered a replacement Renault there and then for him. With
safety such an important issue for fleets, Renault's strong performance
in Euro NCAP tests, along with the experience of my own driver, has ensured
Renault is one of my preferred manufacturers for our fleet."

Renault Set to Build on New Clio Success with the
Launch of its Five Door Version
" Renault launches its New Clio five door in UK showrooms from 27th
January 2006
" Low insurance groups announced starting from 2E for the entry-level
version
Renault's New Clio has enjoyed a phenomenal launch since the three-door
version arrived last October, with its combination of funky, sleek looks,
large interior cabin space, high quality materials and top performance
and value.
New Clio three door's talents have bowled both the public and Press over,
with many top awards already under its belt including the much-coveted
European Car of the Year 2006 and Best Supermini at the What Car? magazine
and Test Drive magazine awards 2006. Not content with that, New Clio remains
the car to beat in magazine group road tests remaining at the top of the
pile against every rival car it has been tested against to date.
Five times the Va Va Voom!
Now, with the arrival of the five-door New Clio, the success looks set
to continue. In UK showrooms from 27th January, New Clio five door offers
the same top quality package as the three-door but with five times the
Va Va Voom!
The five door offers even more practicality and ease of access to all
that space, for those who regularly carry rear seat passengers but don't
require the extensive versatility and deceptively spacious interior offered
by the Modus mini-MPV. A Va Va Voom sized helping of luxury and style
are also assured with the top-of-the range Privilege and Initiale, offering
the ultimate in luxury in the supermini segment, and available exclusively
only on the five-door version.
New Clio five-door is suitable for all budgets with prices starting from
£8,995 for the entry-level Authentique 1.2 16V 75 rising to £15,050
for the luxurious Initiale with its powerful 1.5 dCi 106 engine, six speed
gearbox and leather-lined interior. This is a £600 premium over
the three door Clio.
A Va Va Voom sized amount of standard equipment at a great price!
New Clio five door has an impressive list of standard equipment available
on each of its five trim levels. However it's core features set the benchmark
offering some features such a front lateral airbags on all versions including
Authentique, which were previously not available on the entry-level Clio
II model helping New Clio become the eighth Renault to achieve the maximum
five-stars from Euro NCAP. Customers can be reassured they are travelling
in safety and luxury in five door New Clio.
The trim levels available are the Authentique, Expression, the sporty
Dynamique, Privilege and range-topping luxurious Initiale.
Just like the three-door New Clio, the five-door version leaves its rivals
in the shade when it comes to price which may be a nasty surprise to them
but a pleasant one for customers! Expected to be the biggest seller in
petrol form is the Dynamique 1.4 16V 98 petrol engine at £10,850.
This compares well to equivalent rival models such as the VW Polo Sport
1.4 100 which at £13,110 is £2,260 more or the Vauxhall Corsa
SXi 1.4i 16V which at £11,400 is £550 more expensive than
the Clio.
In diesel form, Renault expects its Dynamique 1.5dCi 86 with air conditioning
at £12,250 to be its biggest diesel seller, and which also compares
favourably to its rival's equivalent models. The Ford Fiesta Zetec Climate
1.6 Duratorq TDCi is priced at £12,295 and the VW Polo Sport 1.4
Tdi 80 which at £13,480 is £1,230 more and six hp less than
the Clio!
It is not just pricing where New Clio is a class above, it also offers
excellent fuel economy too, with the Dynamique 1.5 dCi 86 which offers
an impressive combined fuel consumption of 64.2 mpg and CO2 emissions
of just 117 g/km.
Low insurance groups
Insurance groups start from as low as 2E for the entry-level New Clio
five-door, rising to 6E for the luxurious Initiale which is packed full
of standard equipment including Climate Control, parking proximity sensors,
Renault Hands Free keycard ( a segment first) and metallic paint. Not
only does New Clio five-door offer a top quality package worthy of the
European Car of the Year 2006 and impressive interior cabin space, it
saves you pounds on your insurance too!
In some cases the insurance group has dropped when compared to the equivalent
previous Clio II model such as the Dynamique 1.4 16V 98 which was 5E but
is now lower at 4E, and the Expression 1.5 dCi 68 which was 4E but is
now two groups lower on New Clio at 2E.
New Clio five door's low insurance rating compares favourably to its rivals,
with the Authentique's 2E rating being one class lower than the equivalent
Ford Fiesta Studio 1.25 Duratec which is 3E. The New Clio Dynamique 1.4
16V 98 insurance rating is just 4E compared to the Fiesta Zetec 1.4 at
5E and the Peugeot 206 Sport 1.4 at 6E.
On sale now
New Clio five door is in UK showrooms now priced from £8,995 for
the Authentique 1.2 16V 75 rising to £15,050 for the luxurious Initiale.
With its funky good looks, chic style, high quality interior, luxurious
trim levels and practical and impressive interior cabin space, the New
Clio five-door looks set to continue the success story started by the
three door version launched last year.

Renault Launches New Scenic 'Oasis' Special Edition
Renault's distinctive Scénic range continues to ride high in the
sales charts, even with the arrival of recent entrants to the compact-MPV
(multi-purpose vehicle) sector. To ensure that the original mid-sized
MPV maintains its popularity against its key rivals, particularly among
retail customers, Renault has launched a new special edition for the Scénic
range, 'Oasis'. This special edition has already proved popular with other
Mégane bodystyles and places the emphasis firmly on technology
and value-for-money, with prices from £15,920.
Based on the Expression trim level, the Oasis offers £1,250 of extra
equipment for just £300 more. The first of the added extras is the
Hands-Free Renault Card - still unique in its sector - which automatically
opens the car doors when it senses the card and also allows the driver
to start the car just by pressing the start button, without the need to
hunt through pockets or shopping bags for a traditional key.
The Hands-Free system is very family-friendly, much like several other
items of additional equipment on the new Scénic model: 6-CD changer,
alarm, electrically folding door mirrors and a fixed glass panoramic sunroof.
Other standard equipment includes: 60W RDS radio/single CD with fingertip
remote controls, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, air conditioning, front and

New Clio Wins Coveted Best Supermini at
the 2006 What Car? Awards
Not content with winning European Car of the Year 2006 and every single
group road test the media has conducted Renault's New Clio remains the
car to beat after scooping the prestigious Best Supermini at the 2006
What Car? Awards confirming its entrance at the top-of-the-class.
The New Clio was launched in October 2005 to build on the success of its
much-loved predecessor, initially as a three-door, and it's in this guise
it has won this coveted award tested in mid-range Expression 1.4 16V 98
trim.
In a hard-fought, extremely competitive category, New Clio particularly
impressed the judges with its driveability, interior quality and sophistication,
five-star Euro NCAP safety, road-handling and list of standard features.
What Car? commented; "No other supermini does as good a job of cutting
out wind and road noise, while our favoured 1.4 petrol engine is smooth
and quiet, especially when driven at speed. This ensures longer trips
are something to be savoured, not dreaded
the Clio's driving manners
always impress. The suspension provides a brilliant blend of comfort and
control
excellent grip (gives) the Clio a more composed feel than
most of its rivals".
Not only is the quiet, smooth engine praised but the judges were also
enthused by New Clio's excellent fuel economy and whole life costs; "as
well as being quiet, the 98hp 1.4 engine provides useful extra oomph over
the 1.2, yet still returns decent fuel economy. Servicing intervals of
18,000 miles keep maintenance costs down and a group four insurance rating
means sensible premiums".
New Clio has received particular praise for both its exterior and interior
quality since its launch, and it doesn't fail to impress here either.
The judges said; "The sophisticated feel continues inside
the
new one is as roomy and classy as you could hope for. There's ample head
and legroom up front, and a good-sized boot
the dash is simple and
stylish, and the cabin materials have a sturdy, modern feel. Supportive
seats and steering-wheel mounted stereo controls help to take the strain
out of motorway jaunts".
Renault is renowned for its safety as the only manufacturer with eight
cars having received the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP. New
Clio is the latest recipient, and safety is applauded by What Car? as
well; "Safety is another of the Clio's plus points - front, side
and curtain airbags are standard and it's one of only a handful of superminis
to score five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests".
Philippe Talou-Derible, Managing Director, Renault UK, said; "For
New Clio to win the coveted Best Supermini award from What Car? is a fantastic
achievement and endorses the hard work that has gone in to ensuring Clio
sets the benchmark in its segment especially for our customers.
"New Clio has enjoyed an incredibly successful launch already demonstrating
it's the car to beat after only four months on sale. With the launch of
the five-door Clio at the end of this month and the hotly anticipated
New Clio Renaultsport in the summer, we intend to offer a full range by
the end of 2006".
New Clio is on sale now, with prices starting from £8,895 for the
three-door Clio Extreme 1.2 16V 75, rising to £12,650 for the three-door
£12,650. The car tested by What Car? magazine was the Expression
1.4 16V 98 which has an on the road price of £9,950.
Clio five-door coming soon
The five-door New Clio will arrive in UK showrooms on January 27th, bringing
two luxurious trim levels exclusively to the five-door version, Privilege
and the top-of-the range, Initiale. Five-door New Clio is available to
order now with prices staring from £8,995 for the Authentique 1.2
16V 75, rising to £15,050 for the Initiale 1.5 dCi 106 six speed.
Customers can find out more information from their nearest Renault dealer
or online at the dedicated site for all things Clio, www.vavavoom.co.uk.

Renault Off to Flying Start with Launch
of New Renaultsport 'F1 Team' Special Edition and New Megane 2006 Prices
" On sale from 1 February 2006
" Prices and insurance group ratings same as previous version, ranging
from £11,450 to £22,310 and 3E to 17E
" Two new special editions: Mégane Renaultsport 225 'Renault
F1 Team' and 'Maxim'
" New entry-level diesel, 1.5 dCi 106 6-speed for Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet
" New flagship diesel, 2.0 dCi 150 due in May 2006
Renault has announced prices and specifications for the New Renault Mégane
2006 range and also raised the bar in the sports hatch stakes with the
launch of a special edition Mégane Renaultsport 225 to celebrate
its Formula 1 Constructors' Championship title from last season.
The Renault Mégane continues to be Europe's best-selling car, so
the arrival of two new special editions and the lack of price rises over
the current version looks certain to keep the distinctive range at the
top of the sales charts. And that's not forgetting the fact that prices
still start from just £11,450 on the road. There are no changes
yet to the Scénic MPV range which is built on the Mégane
platform.
New Mégane Renaultsport 225 'Renault F1 Team' special edition
Giving the New Mégane 2006 even more impact is the launch of a
new special edition, Mégane Renaultsport 225 Renault F1 Team, to
celebrate Renault's 2005 Constructors' and Fernando Alonso's Drivers'
Formula 1 World Championship titles.
Based on the Mégane Renaultsport 225 Cup - and therefore three-door
Sport Hatch - the eye-catching newcomer offers a powerful combination
of track-proven technology and £1,450 worth of equipment for only
£900 more than the Cup, at a price of £19,500.
In addition to the standard specification of the 'Cup' version, the latest
hot hatch from Renault's performance division gains: 60W CD/MP3 RDS radio,
climate control, new "black-gloss" 18" spoked lightweight
alloys with matching door mirrors and blue/black Recaro front sports seats
and blue detailing on the steering wheel and gearshift gaiter. Standard
equipment on the 'Cup' includes: Cup Chassis (includes Brembo front brakes,
disconnectable ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), uprated dampers and
springs and shock absorbers to reinforce the sensation of rigidity and
augment cornering ability), plus cruise control with speed limiter, exclusive
Dunlop SportMaxx tyres and trip computer.
As you would expect when it comes to the glamorous world of Formula 1,
the new special edition certainly isn't lacking in image or exclusivity,
boasting 'Ultra Blue' paintwork, a numbered plaque at the base of the
centre console, plus unique Renault F1 Team decals and badging on the
front wings and front and rear bumpers. The production level is not limited
to a specific number.
New 'Maxim' special edition
Broadening the appeal
of the New Mégane 2006 range even further, particularly in the
retail sector, a new 'Maxim' special edition will also be available from
launch to appeal to the more cost-conscious buyer.
Available for the same price as the already sporty Dynamique versions
on which it's based, the new special edition is available in Hatch and
Sport Hatch models with a choice of either the 1.5 dCi 86 or the petrol
1.6 VVT 111, the two biggest-selling engines which account for approximately
60% of Mégane hatchback sales.
Reflecting the New Mégane 2006 range's unique French style and
built-in value for money approach, Maxim versions boast £450 of
free extra equipment such as 17" Steppe alloy wheels and 60W single
CD/MP3 player, with prices of £13,250 and £13,550 for the
Sport Hatch versions, £13,750 and £14,050 for the Hatch.
New Mégane 2006 - Timely arrival in highly competitive lower
medium sector
The lower medium sector has seen the arrival of several new and revised
contenders in recent months and the arrival of New Mégane 2006
could not be more timely. Designed to build upon the success of the previous
range, the facelifted line-up offers a revised look, greater refinement
and an ever wider choice of engines and options.
New Megane 2006 - Range Structure
The Mégane range structure and equipment levels remain very similar
to the original collection, with seven distinct body styles, namely the
Hatch, Sport Hatch, Sport Saloon, Sport Tourer and Coupé-Cabriolet,
offered with a total of five different trim levels (depending on model
and excluding Renaultsport range): Extreme, Authentique, Expression, Dynamique,
Privilège. Scénic and Grand Scénic do not change
until 2007.
From the outside, each of the Mégane range's five body styles receives
a subtle exterior facelift. At the front, the new models have a revised
"V" shaped front grille and front bumper, a more prominent Renault
diamond and new slim, tapered headlamps, whilst at the rear there are
new rear light clusters (excluding Coupe-Cabriolet) and bumper unit.
There are also several alterations to specific trim levels, such as body-coloured
door mirrors and door handles on Authentique, 'Flint' bumper and side
rubbing strips from Expression upwards, chrome effect roof bars on Sport
Tourer versions from Dynamique and above, plus a wide range of new wheel
trims and alloy wheel designs for each version.
The improvements to New Mégane are even more apparent on the inside,
where the revised interior reflects steps made in quality and materials,
similar to those of New Clio and New Laguna which have been received so
well.
Each of the New Mégane 2006 models features new interior trim and
cabin detailing, plus new look dials with white background lighting and
soft-touch dashboard materials. To emphasise their sporting air, Dynamique
models also have chrome surrounds to the vents, controls and handles.
Renault continues to improve the quality of its products in all areas
and New Mégane 2006 benefits from the company's increasingly high
standards. As such, the new versions have improved fit and finish, the
interior being an even quieter environment than before thanks to enhanced
soundproofing of the cabin, engine and drivetrain.
The good news continues with the improvements to the electric steering
column gleaned from the development of the Renaultsport Trophy, focusing
mainly on a revised "tube in tube" steering column to give superior
feel and handling around the centrepoint. The ECU (Electronic Control
Unit) has also been re-programmed to give more consistent steering responses.
While some of the revisions to the latest Megane range are clearly quite
comprehensive, Renault's usual attention to detail is also clearly evident
even right down to the new flat blade wipers for example.
Mégane Renaultsport 225 - Same high performance, even greater
purpose
The Renaultsport range remains the same with a three model line-up, Megane
Renaultsport 225 in Hatch and Sport Hatch guise, with the focused 'Cup'
version in Sport Hatch only. Prices again are unaffected, however, there
are several notable revisions to the range in addition to the new Renault
F1 Team special edition.
This starts with greater differentiation between the standard 225 and
the more hardcore 225 'Cup' version, as the latter receives gets a striking
new blue/black 'Scotec' cloth interior, while the normal Megane Renaultsport
225 now comes equipped with a full leather interior, climate control and
60W single CD/MP3 RDS radio as standard. These optional extras on the
outgoing range would have cost over £1,000, yet the retail price
remains the same.
There are also two noteworthy option changes for the entire Renaultsport
range. The first picks up where the Clio Renaultsport 182 Trophy hot hatch
left off, as the Recaro seats are available as an £850 option on
all Sport Hatch versions. And, due to the continued demand for the the
Cup Chassis option on the standard Mégane Renaultsport 225, which
accounts for around 40% of current range sales, the pack now includes
anthracite-coloured door mirrors to give the cars even greater on-road
presence.
Two colour changes are also made with the launch of the new vibrant non-metallic
blue, Ultra Blue, which replaces Capsicum Red, plus the new metallic pearlescent
blue, Albi Blue, which replaces Arctic Blue.
New Megane, New Power
The Mégane
range already featured some of the most highly-regarded engines in its
sector and New Mégane 2006 will be no different. The line-up gains
a new flagship 2.0 dCi 150 diesel engine and sees the welcome addition
of an entry-level dCi 106 6-speed option to the Mégane Coupe-Cabriolet
series, offering an impressive 56.5mpg on a combined cycle. With prices
for the new entry-level diesel version starting at £19,110, this
top-selling and now even more frugal, convertible looks certain to cause
even more of a stir among its rivals, whatever the weather.
The class-leading 2.0 dCi 150 engine which was recently introduced on
New Laguna is scheduled to appear across the Mégane range in May
and will offer a strong combination of refined, lusty performance and
low fuel consumption for long distance and inner city journeys. This new
powerplant offers 340Nm of torque at just 2,000rpm, plus a 0-62mph time
of 8.7 seconds in the Hatch, only marginally slower than the most powerful
2.0T 165 turbo petrol engine at 8.3 seconds.
In keeping with New Mégane 2006 sense of style, there are also
several colour changes to the range. Nordic Green is added to the Mégane
Coupé-Cabriolet models, while elsewhere, Hessian is replaced by
Quartz, Extreme Blue replaces Ottoman Blue (all except Sport Saloon) and
Gunmetal replaces Hologram Grey.
Orders for the New Mégane 2006 range can be placed from 1st February
in time for the new registration plate change. Scénic and Grand
Scénic are unaffected by the changes to the Mégane range.
